Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa, mostly known as Joeboy hails from Lagos state, Nigeria. Born on the 21st of May, 1997, the song writer, singer and recording artist is presently 23yrs old. His genres of music are Afro Pop and Contemporary R& B. He’s one of the current trends in the Nigerian music industry.

Education

Upon successful completion of his primary and secondary school education, he furthered his education at the University of Lagos where he bagged his bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management.

Career                            

At 16 Joe Boy started his journey into the music world. It was easier for him because he was surrounded by music inclined people; his dad, who was a keyboardist in church and his older brother who sang in the choir.

He used to hand out with 9ice and ID cabasa in the studio and they motivated him a lot to venture into music. At 17 he recorded his first track ‘’Gebseyin’’ and later released a cover for Ed Sheeran’s ‘’Shape of you’’. It was the cover song that connected him with Mr. Eazi as he saw the talent he possessed and decided to invest in him. After that, he’s released lots of songs which have increased his popularity. His song ‘Baby’ is being played across the length and breadth of Nigeria and it has gained over 20 million streams on spotify and YouTube.

Baby’s video has also gained over 31million views on You Tube. On 1st August 2019 he released his bomb track “Beginning” whose video received over 23 million views on You Tube. He’s been nominated for several awards including the Headies Award and the City People Music Awards and has won the best artiste in African Pop at the All Africa Music Awards and the Best Pop at the Sound City MVP Awards festival in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Joe Boy has presently been signed into Mr. Eazi’s Banku Music Record Label and Gorilla Sauce Entertainment and he’s one of the soon becoming stars of the Nigerian Music Industry with net worth estimated to be about $750,000.
